Again the 2019 Kia Sorento SXL V6 AWD is awarded “highest ranked midsize SUV in initial quality”, for 2 Years in a Row by JD Power. The Sorento is designed to handle any road, stronger, safer and smarter, that is the new 2019 Kia Sorento.

The Kia Sorento is a 3-rows, five-doors, all-wheel drive designed to survive on the most difficult roads. The Sorento is Kia’s best-selling crossover utility vehicle. Satisfied car buyers keep coming back to Kia’s dealers looking for the Sorento.  

This mid-size crossover, has been produced since the year 2002. The Sorento was named after the Italian resort town of Sorento. The 2019 is part of the 3rd generation of the Sorento family.

The Sorento is produced at Kia’s factory in West Point, Georgia in the U.S. The new Kia Sorento is made with advanced stronger steel that the previous generations.  The Korean car leader, KIA, is becoming more and more Americanized. The Sorento has been designed especially for off-roads, which allow you to feel comfort and a sense of power on any kind of road. The Sorento also performs very well on high-quality road surface, where the driver can enjoy the comfort of a smooth movement and excellent controllability.

If it detects driver fatigue or inattentive driving practices, the system issues visual and audible warnings, including a coffee cup icon in the instrument cluster, to encourage the driver to take a break. LKA helps alert the driver and can even steer the vehicle back to its original position should the system detect the vehicle drifting out of its lane. 

Active Safety Features Standard

All Sorento models are full of safety features. All models offer standard active safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Antilock Braking System (ABS).  Additional technologies such as Roll Over Mitigation (ROM) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC) on AWD models are standard equipment designed to help improve dynamic control.

Exterior

Exterior new front and rear fascias, produce a more sophisticated look on the outside. The front fascia wears a newly sculpted bumper designed to produce a more aggressive look.

The new revised front-end of the 2019 Sorento is headlined by an artfully radiator grille flanked by a new headlamp configuration with full-LED lighting on upper trims, optional on the SX and standard on the SXL.

The ice cube-style fog-lamps have also been redesigned featuring projection bulbs for EX and SX trims while SXL includes more distinctive LEDs.  

The rear fascia of the crossover has also been enhanced with a new bumper design, sleeker taillamps (LED bulbs for EX trim and higher), revised liftgate and a sportier muffler tip.  And the Sorento’s muscular body rides atop three newly designed wheels, ranging from 17 to 19 inches, depending on trim level.

The interior cabin is now more upscale and integrates newly-added technology, including available Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keep Assist and QuantumLogic™ Surround Sound.

The 2019 Sorento offers standard 40/20/40 second-row folding seats and 50/50 third-row folding seats, standard on all trims, providing space for up to seven passengers on any Sorento. 

The new 2019 Sorento now offers 2-way powered lumbar support for the front passenger on SX and SXL trims.

Enhancing the interior, passengers can enjoy the available dual-zone HVAC and panoramic sunroof,

More interior details like available premium Nappa leather trim seating surfaces and updated interior accent trims are standard visual enhancements across all trim levels.

Cargo volume with the new rear lift-gate is good enough at a size of 73 cu.-ft.

The Sorento now includes the available 3.3-liter V6 with a newly available 8-speed automatic transmission for a smoother seamless driving experience on any type of road.

More and new features include the new added Driver Assistance Systems, Harman Kardon-audio with QuantumLogic™and wireless charging to eliminate the need for a charging cord. Available wireless charging tray for compatible Android6 devices, as well as Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone X.8. 

The base level L trim of the Sorento now includes a standard 7-inch user interface, equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  

The new Kia Sorento SXL V6 is an example of a timely light re-styling by Kia’s designers and engineers. The shape of the crossover has changed with some details providing better image and status.

The Sorento has a very flexible price range starting at $25,990 with the L model, and going up in price to about $44,690 for the SX Limited version front-wheel drive.

The SXL, the one I am driving has everything included on the previous 5 trims, plus 19″ Chrome Alloy Wheels, Nappa Leather Seat Trim a Surround View Monitor (SVM) and more luxury details.

Conclusion

Priced around 46K the 2019, the Kia Sorento SXL V6 AWD is a nice and comfortable crossover with excellent performance. Its size is smaller than many SUVs, what makes the Sorento a good car for both city and country or suburbs.

The Sorento is full of advance safety features like autonomous emergency braking, when this system feels that a collision is inevitable, and no actions are taken on the part of the driver to avoid it, then the car uses the brakes. The “Smart Lift-gate”

The Sorento is slightly larger than before and is now aimed at competing with three-row SUVs. It offers a more elegant and sophisticated look. Its cabin is very spacious and there are new technologies of convenience and safety. The power of the V6, a lot of features and a spacious interior with a third row of seats available.
