Introduction:

I am starting to test drive the new 2018 XC60 and I get excited to try all the new features and feel the interior and engine of this volvo. I always enjoy driving Volvo. As I drive the XC60 it feel as a very solid and strong car. I am driving the T6 AWD.

Swedish? Chinese? for me Volvo will always be a Swedish car, even if the company is now owned by a Chinese Multinational. The company maintains its original sweden-culture of making a beautiful luxury strong and very safe car. Volvo’s are luxury, very beautiful, but that is not their main strength, instead the company is more focus on building cars with great safety and elegance.

The all-new 2018 XC60 replaces the current XC60 which has been on the market for successful 9 years. It is a stylish SUV, comfortable for an active urban life as well as long distance travels. Every feature counts in this car, you won’t find here a “tech for tech sake”, but only the technology with purpose. Thus, the new XC60 Inscription offers:

  • 12.3” Digital Drive Display with Navigation;
  • CleanZone Automatic Air Recirculation in Polluted Areas
  • Driver-oriented interior with a clear Scandinavian design influence featuring natural materials
  • Keyless Entry & Drive Modes
  • Available Driftwood Inlay
  • 4-Zone Electronic Climate Control
  • Sensus Connect 9” Touchscreen ( Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Standard )
  • Glossy Chrome Framed Front Grill
  • Standard Panoramic Moonroof
  • Foglights in Front Spoiler
  • Keyless Entry with Door Handle Illumination
  • Available Laminated Side Windows
  • Rear Park Assist Camera & Power Tailgate with Foot Controlled Open/Close
  • Underwrap Doors

Some of the differences on the new XC60 T6 AWD Inscription is longer, wider, lower and has a longer wheel base than its predecessor. The Inscription has the full power seats, dressed up in leather, coming in many different colors, adjustable side support, ventilation, heating and massage. The sitting position is high enough to have a good road overview, yet you won’t feel like you are sitting on the car.

Volvo History

The Volvo Group is a Swedish multinational manufacturing company headquartered in Gothenburg City. In 1924, Assar Gabrielsson, a sales manager, and Gustav Larson, an engineer, decided to start construction of a Swedish car. They intended to build cars that could fit the country’s roads and its rough winters.

Even though Volvo Cars is being seen as the ultimate Swedish brand, it has been trying and collaborating with other famous world brands. In 1977 Volvo offered another Swedish automotive group Saab-Scania to combine operations, but got a refusal. Later was working together with a French manufacturer Renault. In 1991, the Volvo Group participated in a joint venture with Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors at the former DAF plant in Born, Netherlands. As a result of this collaboration, the first generation Mitsubishi Carisma was manufactured, alongside the Volvo S40/V40 (1996). During the 1990s, Volvo also partnered with the American manufacturer General Motors.

Safety Features

“When I was a young girl, I was in a severe car accident, and I was told at that time the reason why I’ve survived it, after the car flipped, was because it was… a Volvo”, – a remarkable compliment from the world famous photographer, Barbara Davidson.

It has been said a lot about Volvo’s safety vision. So what are they, the features which makes Volvo so safe?

Indeed, Volvo has proven its exceptional safety many times, and by 2018 it has come to the ultimate accident prevention, using a City Safety system, which has been launched in 2008. The advanced built-in camera is now capable of detecting pedestrians, cyclists, other cars and even large animals. In fact, the company’s Vision 2020 is “Nobody should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo by 2020”. That is why the body of the new XC60 T6 AWD Inscription is designed for maximum strength around the passenger compartment and maximum energy dissipation in the front and rear crumple zones.
