2022 Cadillac CT4 American Performance

2022 Cadillac CT4

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 is a luxury sedan with high performance that can compete with European sedans. Test driving the CT4 I can enjoy the luxury feeling merged into a clean modern young Cadillac ready for performance.

Cadillac is a classic American luxury car manufacturer owned by General Motors. Cadillac cars are sold in more than 50 countries and territories but primarily in the United States where Cadillac is well known by everyone as the elegant classic American car.

Cadillac and also Buick are considered the oldest automobile brands, however new Cadillac models are not only elegant and luxury, but also trendy, with a younger design and style, with fast engines and a sporty look that attracts new generations into the Cadillac brand.

The CT4 -V Blackwing is a direct competitor to the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C 63.

In the past Cadillac has not been very successful against its German rivals with the ATS and CTS mid-size sedans or with the regular CT4, but the new top of the line 2022 CT4 -V Blackwing includes strong upgrades and high performance becoming a good alternative to its German competitors.

Cadillac CTS Catera Touring Sedan

Cadillac CTS, Catera Touring Sedan, is a modern trendy business class car, produced since 2002, it appeared on the Europe at the end of the same year. In 2007, the second generation appeared with a redesigned design. In 2009, the station wagon version appeared, and the CT coupe became available in 2010.

General Motors has unveiled the new 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing sedans, both very luxury and modern sedans, that don’t look at all like the classic Cadillac cars. It seems that the brand is entering a younger market of luxury sedan buyers.

Trims and Pricing for the 2022 Cadillac CT4

The sporty luxury CT4 is available in 3 trim model variations with a nice price range starting at a low $33K pricing for the CT4 base model, going up to $45K with the CT4-V what is a middle range trim and the top of the line trim model CT4-V BLACKWING available for a base price around $58K, but the price can significantly go up depending on different options that can be selected to enhance this sedan.

  • CT4
    $33,695 Starting MSRP

  • CT4-V
    $45,895 Starting MSRP

  • CT4-V BLACKWING
    $58,995 Starting MSRP

From the three trims, the top of the line 2022 Cadillac CT4 V Blackwing is a high-performance luxury sedan, getting a track-ready set of hardware, including a twin-turbocharged V6, beefed-up chassis, big brakes, a sport-tuned suspension and more.

The mid-range trim, CT4-V model is a sportier version with a slightly more powerful engine than the base model.

Performance

The CT4-V Blackwing’s 472-horsepower 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is pure power, though you can expect slower acceleration from the much more fun-to-play six-speed manual.

The manual transmission has a no-lift feature that allows you to hold the accelerator pedal down during a full-throttle upshift without fear of damaging the driveline. Doing so also keeps the turbos going, improving acceleration.

While power delivery is robust throughout the rev range, the V6’s sound isn’t quite as appealing as that from the M3’s turbocharged inline-six or Mercedes’ turbocharged V8.

When the Blackwing is set to Track mode, the exhaust blasts and blasts when you release the gas pedal, and makes an aggressive murmur when you slow down.

Beyond the oomph of the turbocharged V6 engine, the Blackwing’s big Brembo brakes, sticky Michelin tires and sophisticated electronic controls deliver a high degree of confidence on a track and a comfortable ride on country roads.

In a different car, the big change in horsepower and rpm could alter the car’s traction and lose control. The Blackwing’s computer considers how much grip is available and slows the shift accordingly to make sure you don’t lose traction.

From these kinds of controls comes a confidence that encourages you to try braking later, take turns at higher speeds, and hit the gas sooner. As with many modern high-performance cars, drivers can even adjust the car’s behavior, from steering effort to suspension firmness and brake pedal response to exhaust volume.

Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing highest downforce in V Series

The top of the line CT4-V Blackwing Cadillac has an estimated top speed of 189 mph and a track-adapted chassis and suspension, making the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing a performance-ready sedan.

The available aero packages were developed using the new five-belt wind tunnel at the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, as well as the Windshear wind tunnel used by Cadillac Racing in North Carolina.

The result is the highest level of aerodynamic downforce ever created by a production Cadillac V-Series car.

This performance luxury sedan was developed with over 500 hours of wind tunnel testing and 300 simulations using advanced CFD technology have polished the carbon fiber packages on the CT4-V Blackwing.

The use of VR headsets also allowed Cadillac engineers to identify in real time opportunities for additional aerodynamic efficiency.

The five-belt wind tunnel at the GM Technical Center allows engineers to spend more time fine-tuning the aerodynamic components of full-size vehicles.

Interior

The Interior of the CT4 feels premium modern and bolt.  Anyone can enjoy a ride inside the CT4. it is luxury but it comes with a very clean style, not too flashy on the interior.

The CT4-V Blackwings come with heated front seats and a sport steering wheel. You can get it with ventilated and massaging seats, leather, and a suede microfiber-wrapped steering wheel.

Despite being a compact sedan, drivers of any size should be able to fit in just fine. But with 5 occupants, the limits of the CT4’s reduced size will become apparent. Four average-sized passengers will have plenty of room, but anyone with a long torso will quickly run out of headroom.

Technology

All CT4-V Blackwings models come with an 8-inch center display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility. The digital displays, functionality and features are of very high quality.

You can control the infotainment screen by touch or via a rotary controller, allowing different option preferences on how to control your CT4..

You can easily configure the 12-inch digital gauge cluster to display your preferred displays, including a track-oriented tachometer that prioritizes the area near the redline.

An optional available head-up display flashes with shift lights for a nice luxury and ambience touch inside the CT4.

Standard safety features include anti-lock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front airbags, curtain airbags, driver’s knee airbag.

The CT4 offers a wide selection of driving aids, but the most impressive is the standard Performance Traction Management system, which is an advanced stability control tool designed for high-speed driving.

Drivers can move through the five modes, including a setting for wet surfaces, by turning a dial on the steering wheel. Once you experience the effectiveness of PTM in reducing the chances of spinning the car, you’ll feel more confident to push harder on the race track.

Add to the safety systems, forward collision mitigation, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. Another driver assistance package requires automatic transmission: Enhanced Forward Collision Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Automatic Braking.
