The Toyota Sequoia TRD PRO is Stronger than a War Tank

Written by Marco Carvajal

2022 Toyota Sequoia TRD PRO

Toyota’s full-size Sequoia is a massive SUV truck that can take you anywhere. It is strong like a Sequoia huge three, but it is also luxurious and very comfortable.

I am test driving the 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro model. It is strong as a Rock but fast as a cheetah.

When you ride inside a Sequoia it feels strong and safe like a war tank but it feels premium and luxurious on the inside.

The powerful Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport 4×4 SUV can drive 7 passengers on any terrain.

The Sequoia offers the complete package. it is a high-performance yet refined SUV that combines comfort, durability, and reliability.

2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro

This large SUV is ideal for family trips that can accommodate up to eight people going into any type of adventure and difficult off-road.  If you want to drive with premium style in the city or you want to go on difficult roads, it is not a problem for the Sequoia, it can drive you anywhere.

There are no major changes for the 2022 model, now the Sequoia offers a new exterior color, Wind Chill Pearl, to replace Blizzard Pearl and Super White. The recently added special-edition Nightshade was added to the Sequoia lineup in 2021, and it continues for 2022 with the flagship SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Pro, Limited, and Platinum models.

The Toyota Sequoia has a body-on-frame design, a 5.7-liter i-FORCE V8 engine with 381 horsepower to supercharge Sequoia models at a versatile Multi-Mode 4WD system optional, instead of the standard two-wheel-drive version.

7 Passengers capacity in Three-Rows

This SUV has a nice large capacity for 7 passengers in 3 rows. The driver and one passenger in the front, two passengers in the middle row with enough space between the two middle seats to go back to the third row,

Then the third row has a large space for three passengers, with better capacity than other 3-row SUVs.

The second and third rows can be folded down to be converted into a full-size cargo SUV. Most competitor SUVs have limited space in the third row, In general, the third row just has enough space for small passengers, but with the large Sequoia, the third tow is large enough for any size passenger to seat very comfortably in the back of the car.  There is plenty of space everywhere, you are riding a full size SUV.

The Toyota Sequoia is not a regular large SUV, it is a full-size, full-capability SUV. It is mainly built for family road and trail adventures.

Sequoia Name

The Toyota Sequoia is named after the giant Sequoia redwood trees. Sequoia trees are some of the tallest in the world, and this gave inspiration to Toyota’s automotive engineers and architects when creating this massive luxury SUV.

The Toyota Sequoia is the first popular mainstream full-sized SUV in North America that is built by a Japanese automaker.

The Sequoia is one of the toughest SUVs you can drive.

Test Driving the Sequoia TRD Pro

The TRD Pro badge stands for ultimate off-road capability. Ready to handle harsh environments, the Sequoia TRD Pro still retains the comfort of daily driving thanks to its internally bypassed Fox shock absorbers.

Sequoia TRD Off-Road Performance

The Sequoia I am test driving is a TRD Pro, this is one of the best Sequoia models when talking about off-road performance. The three letters TRD stand for Toyota Racing Development.

Toyota’s TRD Pro line was originally developed for racing, but since vehicles intended for racing share many characteristics with those built for off-roading, it naturally evolved into what is now a type of vehicle that’s perfect for tackling different terrain because of its special suspension. The highest TRD trim, PRO is the best for off-road terrains.

There are three common grades in Toyota’s TRD line: Sport, Off-Road, and Pro (the Sequoia TRD PRO I am test driving).

The TRD PRO is exclusively available in a seven-seat configuration, this rugged model comes standard with multi-mode all-wheel drive and proven off-road equipment specially designed and selected by Toyota Racing Development engineers to achieve the best performance on any road and climate.

When you compare the external bypass shocks used in off-road racing cars, to the internal bypass Fox shocks used in the Sequoia TRD Pro, it integrates bypass zones within the shock body, allowing the shock fluid to bypass the piston through adjustable ports as the Sequoia TRD Pro moves.

The result is a very soft ride in normal driving, Fox shock damping is progressively stiffer through the shock piston stroke to resist bottoming out on rough trail surfaces.

Nor only available in the TRD Pro-exclusive Lunar Rock, also enjoy a choice of body colors like Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic and new for 2022 Wind Chill Pearl.

The distinctive TRD styling makes this Sequoia an attractive SUV on the road or trail. The TRD Pro grille, with the “TOYOTA” brand in big bold letters, is complemented by LED fog lamps from Rigid Industries.
